Включает штаты: Вашингтон [*Washington], Орегон [*Oregon], Калифорния [*California I], Аризона [*Arizona I], Нью-Мексико [*New Mexico], Колорадо [*Colorado I], Юта [*Utah], Невада [*Nevada], Айдахо [*Idaho], Вайоминг [*Wyoming I], Монтана [*Montana I] и часть Техаса [*Texas]. Штаты к востоку от этого региона носят назв. Средний Запад [*Midwest]. Ассоциации с американским Западом — это прежде всего Дикий Запад [*Wild West], ковбои [*cowboy] и индейцы [*Native Americans]
